Who I Am In A Nutshell
I graduated from Tarleton State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Music. While at Tarleton I was part of all the university choirs and
awarded a full scholarship to sing abroad in Italy. So far the highlight of my
musical career has been being a two time soloist in the ACDA Collegiate Honor
choir in 2009 and a small ensemble member of the ACDA Women’s Honor choir in
2011. A product of the HEB school system I wanted to go back and teach in the
Junior Highs where my love for music started. I was a Private Lessons
Instructor for 2 years in the HEB school district. While teaching voice I had
many students experience success in the All Region choirs and in the Solo and
Ensemble competitions. While my students brought me great joy and I loved my
job I felt like I was meant for something more. I decided that I wanted to be a
teacher, a real certified choir director. Through my research on different ways
to become a certified teacher in Texas I came across ECAP. That's where I am
now, why I even have a blog, and how you are reading this. I am currently
student teaching and loving every second of it. I never thought I could be so
happy to not make any money.
